Cambridge Seminars College Scholarship Background
The Cambridge Seminars College Scholarship was first established from the college’s inception in 1981 to help students with excellent academic record but with funding difficulties. For Thailand the Scholarship was offered for the first time in 2009, when 10 students obtained scholarships worth £6000 each for their IELTS-EFL Course and one of these obtained the full £11000 scholarship for the course fee.
Based on the positive feedback from last year’s Thai students the college has increased this year’s allocation to 30 scholarships for Thai students in the coming year (2010). The scholarships will be divided into 2 parts.
1. A Scholarship for both the IELTS-EFL course fee and the Accommodation fee during term time. This scholarship will be given to one student with a value of up to £17000.
2. Partial Scholarship of up to £6,000 for EFL and other programmes.
Basic criteria for candidates
1. Hold Thai Nationality
2. Minimum of 16 years of age on 31st August 2010
3. No physical and mental illness
4. Intend to study hard throughout the course
5. No financial problems, as the parents/students will be responsible for all living expenses and fees not covered by the scholarship.
6. The parent or guardian agrees to the application, if student is below 18 years of age.
7. The Scholarship may be withdrawn if the student does not maintain above 90% attendance.
Specific criteria for candidates in IELTS-EFL course
1. Be studying in Mattayom level or have finished M6 in any field.
2. Studied English to intermediate level. Will require evidence such as certificate or qualifications transcript (IELTS 4.0 to 4.5 or Equivalent).
3. At least GPA 2.00
NOTES
1. The course fee for full time EFL is £11,000 for the full academic year
2. Suitable for improving academic English for further studies in the UK or for work requirements in Thailand.
3. The chance to obtain the Scholarship for both course fee and accommodation fee for term time OR the Scholarship for only accommodation fee during term time.
Specific criteria for candidates in Pre-Masters Programmes.
1. Good Bachelor’s degree from Thai University.
2. Average GPA for all academic years of at least 2.0 or above.
3. Desire to study for a Master’s degree at a UK University.
4. Minimum English language ability score of 5.0 in IELTS or equivalent. Will need to show evidence of this.
NOTES
1. The course tuition fee is £12000 for the programme.
2. Students who pass the exam and finish the Pre-Masters course from Cambridge Seminars College will be guaranteed a place at a UK University.
3. Ideal for those who wish to study a Masters degree but are not sufficiently qualified in English language.
4. The scholarship for the accommodation fee is during term-time only.
5. These scholarships are Merit Based. The students do not need to sign any contract.
6. The students do not need to pay back any awards but must agree for all pictures, history, interviews, messages and stories about the student to be made public in college’s media such as website, newsletter, brochure, etc for reference, better understanding, and promoting the good image of the college.
7. The scholarship award cannot be claimed as cash/money and the decision of Selection Committee from Cambridge Seminars College in awarding these scholarships is final.

Documents required with the application form:
1. Evidence of English language ability. IELTS/TOEFL or other equivalent certificate.
2. Copy of Passport (Details page only).
3. Payment of application fee (£10 or 550 baht). Can be paid in advance or at time of test in Thailand.
4. Passport size photographs (3 copies if by post)
5. Copy of recent qualifications transcript.
6. Copy of degree certificate for Pre-Masters programme.

Selection Procedure
The candidates will be selected on the basis of 2 examination papers. The first paper will be a 45 minute multiple choice. The second paper will be a one hour essay. The top scoring candidate from both papers will be awarded the Full Course fee and Accommodation Scholarship; the next 29 best candidates will be awarded the Accommodation fee Scholarships.
The Date and Location of the Test.
The Tests will be conducted on Saturday, 19 June 2010, from 9.00 to 11.00am at an examination room that the college will arrange for you one week in advance.
If there are 40 or more candidates in one location then test will be conducted at a local school. If there are less than 40 candidates in any given location then the test will be conducted at the British Council offices in Siam Square, Bangkok.

1. Application Deadline – 31st May 2010
2. Exam Date; Saturday 19th June 2010 at 09.00 to 11.00 am.
3. Results announced on Saturday, 3rd July 2010, on our website at www.cambridgeseminars.co.uk
4. Meeting between the parents/guardians/students and Cambridge Seminars College representative on Saturday 24th July 2010 from 9.00 am at the British Council offices in Siam Square, Bangkok, to answer any questions and prepare Visa applications.
