A career in Law will open opportunities for Solicitors, Barristers and Legal Executives in the legal profession, but many trained lawyers also work in many other industries as the training is widely accepted for many other professions.

Solicitors

This is the most popular profession for most law graduates. The main duty of a solicitor is to provide professional legal advice to their clients who may be individuals, companies, charities and organisations. Solicitors may work in private practice, governments, companies, courts and law enforcement agencies.

Barristers

Generally barristers work in the courts and their role is to put forward the case (legal argument) to judges, juries and magistrates on behalf of their clients. Typically, solicitors and barristers work in tandem, where the case is taken by the solicitor but is prepared for representation by the barrister.

Legal Executives

Legal Executives work alongside solicitors. They normally require additional specialised training and recognition. The areas of law that Legal Executive lawyers most often specialise in includes civil litigation (such as personal injury; debt recovery; housing; employment), family law and conveyancing.
